By default, notification alert volume is controlled by the setting in System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects (section) > Alert volume (slider). This setting is relative to your computer’s Output volume. Lowering the computer’s volume will also play alert sounds more quietly.
However, if you have enabled a special workaround in Due notification settings, then the volume of alerts will not be tagged to the Alert volume slider.
